He holds a Master of Laws from KU Leuven (2009) and an LL.M. in European competition law and intellectual property law from the University of Liège (2010). He has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 2010.
His practice focuses on the structuring, implementation and enforcement of distribution networks, advising both manufacturers and distributors on the full lifecycle of their commercial relationships. Willem assists clients with the design of selective and exclusive distribution networks, commercial agency and franchise agreements, as well as with the legal and strategic aspects of market entry and network expansion.
He combines this core expertise with a strong command of intellectual property and competition law, enabling him to support clients in the commercialisation of their products from protection and branding to market access and compliance with EU competition rules. He regularly advises on vertical restraints, online sales models and complex distribution frameworks.
Willem has developed particular experience in the automotive sector, advising international groups and local players on dealer networks, distribution strategies and related disputes. He acts for leading companies in consumer goods, manufacturing and technology.
In addition to his advisory work, Willem is a seasoned litigator, handling high-stakes disputes relating to distribution agreements, termination of commercial relationships, warranty and product-related claims, counterfeit products, parallel import and unfair market practices.
