Lawyer-Senior Associate
Nick Parthoens specializes in constitutional and administrative law and has a particular interest in environmental law.
As an attorney he mainly handles matters that concern spatial planning and urban development, expropriations, environmental operations, local and regional taxes, civil service law, energy law, and education law. In these matters Nick provides both advice and assistance in proceedings before administrative tribunals and before civil law courts. He has experience representing clients before most administrative courts, as well as in the preliminary administrative appeal procedures.
Nick graduated cum laude in 2015, obtaining a Master of Laws from Hasselt University. While in law school, he spent a semester at the University of Rennes (France) on an Erasmus exchange programme. He won the APR Thesis Award for his master’s thesis on the communities’ exercise of their authorities in Brussels.
He co-founded the Phylexa alumni association at Hasselt University’s law faculty. And throughout his studies, he was always actively involved in the student association Themis, as president among other things.
He is a member of the Limburg bar, and he joined Monard Law in 2015.
In 2019-2020 Nick was also active as a researcher at UHasselt within the framework of a research project on preventive (environmental) health care. Since 2021, he is a guest cooperator at Uhasselt. He is a member of the teaching team for the courses (Advanced course) Constitutional Law and Legal Protection Against Government Actions.
