Wout Smeets specializes in economic law, focus particularly on corporate law and commercial law.
He obtained a Master of Laws (magna cum laude) from KU Leuven in 2019. During his time at law school, Wout participated in a Constitutional Law Moot Court and an International Humanitarian Rights Moot Court. His master’s thesis, which was published in the newspaper Jura Falconis, discusses the emergence of “prosumers” on the energy market. He raised the question whether the current legal system is catered to the emergence of this new type of market player. After obtaining his law degree, Wout pursued an Advanced LL.M. (magna cum laude) in taxation from the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Wout joined Monard Law in 2020.
