Thomas Metzger specializes mainly in Commercial and Business Law, Banking and Finance Law, and Criminal law. He is offering both consulting and litigation services to his clients.
He holds a Law degree from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (magna cum laude) as well as an Advanced Master’s degree in Economic Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (magna cum laude).
He has been registered with the Brussels Bar since October 2015, when he joined the “Banking and Finance” department of buyle legal. Thomas has won the “Prix des Bâtonniers Braun et Jakhian”, awarded to the best trainee by the Brussels Bar. He ranked first out of more than 200 trainees who took the Bar exams in 2015.
He triumphed in the “Prix des anciens Présidents de la Conférence du jeune Barreau de Bruxelles”. The prize rewards the best written legal opinion given on a hypothetical case.Thomas was also successful in winning the prestigious “Prix Janson”, which is conferred for being the best litigant in a moot court scenario organized by the Brussels Bar.
Thomas is also a teaching assistant in Civil Law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles since 2019 and has written numerous published articles.
Within the firm, he has developed an expertise in criminal law by advising and representing several business personalities in highly publicized trials. With his experience at hand, he founded, together with Jean-Pierre Buyle and André-Pierre André-Dumont, a department specialized in criminal law and created the website https://criminal.buylelegal.be/ exclusively dedicated to this practice.
