Jan Ghysen

Jan Ghysen is an active member of the corporate law team at Monard Law in Hasselt.

He obtained a Master of Laws from Hogeschool Universiteit Brussels and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, with a major in criminal law and minor in economic law. Jan also studied at the University of Barcelona as part of the Erasmus Student Exchange Programme.

Jan began his traineeship in 2017 at Vanbelle Law in Brussels where he advised a variety of clients in a diverse range of matters. He did so in both French and Dutch. During his traineeship, Jan developed a special interest in litigation pertaining to business enterprises and company law. This led him to join Monard Law’s corporate law team in April 2021.

After several years at the Brussels Bar, Jan joined the Limburg Bar in April 2021.

Since he joined Monard Law, Jan immerses himself corporate litigation with a focus on dispute resolution between shareholders. Jan has particular experience in trying cases in court, as well as negotiating out of court settlements. To further develop his expertise, Jan obtained a postgraduate degree in Corporate Finance from KULeuven in 2024 (summa cum laude with congratulations of the board of examiners).
