Pieter-Jan Desmit specializes in all aspects of social law, with an emphasis on labour law.
Pieter-Jan obtained a Master of Laws from KU Leuven in 2014. He then completed an additional master’s degree (with distinction) on social law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Pieter-Jan has contributed editorially to many legal journals and is a member of the editorial board of the Sportrecht Journaal (Sports Law Journal). In addition, he lectured at Syntra’s Hasselt and Brussels campuses between 2016 and 2018. Pieter-Jan has also been a guest speaker many times at various seminars.
Pieter-Jan is a member of the Limburg Bar. He completed his traineeship at Monard Law in 2015 and 2018. He worked at the law firm Mploy Advocaten Sociaal Recht from 2018 to 2020. He has rejoined Monard Law’s social law team in September 2020. Pieter-Jan focuses his legal work mainly on advising employers on the application of social legislation in the broadest sense and in litigations.
