Monard Law moves to RE|CORE-site in Hasselt

Monard Law is the official tenant of ‘The Office’ at the RE|CORE business park in Hasselt. The law firm has rented half of the office building, and, as from September 2025, will occupy the top three floors, which is more than 2,000 m² of office space. This lease marks the next step in the transformation of the former RECOR site into a modern business park. The project involves renovating heritage property using sustainable construction methods. Property developer Futurn and construction company Mathieu Gijbels are behind this development project.

A sustainable choice at a central location

Ever since 1991, Monard Law has been headquartered at the Gouverneur Roppesingel avenue in Hasselt. Its growth in the last few years has caused it to reach the current office building’s maximum capacity. The new office building will offer modern facilities, energy-efficient systems and equipment, and a pleasant work environment. Leen Vandecruys, CEO of Monard Law says, “Our people are our human capital. Our work demands a lot of concentration, engagement, and dialogue. Needless to say, our future office will be designed and built to meet these needs. According to an internal survey we conducted, our colleagues even emphasized how important it is for the environment where they work to enable them to fully concentrate well. We found this ideal office space at the well-known RE|CORE-site, just a bit further along Hasselt’s greater ring road.”

Monard Law will occupy the three upper floors of The Office, a total of around 2,100 m². The top floor, just below the iconic RE|CORE letters (which have been re-installed), will be Monard Law’s client reception and meeting area. “We’re already very close to our clients (when it comes to service), but we want to create even more ‘client intimacy’. Our new office building gives us plenty of possibilities to organize legal training workshops for our clients and to have captivating speakers come and inspire them in a unique environment.”

“By letting our people work on the other two floors, we encourage them to meet and talk to each other. For this, creating green space and designated areas for sports, fitness, and exercise on site are essential. The attention that the new business park gives to this was very important for us. Our people’s well-being and our efforts to do everything we can to ensure that they look forward to coming to work every day are paramount to us,” said Leen Vandecruys.

Because of this lease, a large part of ‘The Office’ has already become occupied. The building remains part of the Gijbels Group’s portfolio of properties. “We strongly believe in the long-term value of this building,” says Sven Bogaerts, Director of Property and Development at Gijbels Group. Therefore, the other offices in the building will be available only for rent.

Monard Law plans to move to the new premises on 1 September. The office building at the Gouverneur Roppesingel avenue, where the law firm is situated now, is seeking new tenants.

Rental success for other areas on site

Besides Monard Law’s lease, many have shown a lot of interest in the other buildings on the RE|CORE-site. More than 50% of custom commercial buildings have already been sold, which is also true for many of the SME units available. “The high demand reflects the project’s gravitational attraction, that is, a business location that offers not only modern infrastructure but also sustainable solutions and an outstanding location near the center of Hasselt,” concludes Sven Bogaerts.

RE|CORE’s figures and ambitions

  • First completion date: The office building, including the addition of floors to existing structures, will be completed in Q1 of 2025.
  • The Office: Monard Law will occupy half of ‘The Office’ building as from 1 September 2025.
  • Custom Buildings for Sale: More than 50% of custom commercial buildings have already been sold.
